Opening: The Bryan Innovation Lab
The Steward School unveils the Bryan Innovation Lab to its school community on Friday, April 19. Principal Jay Hugo designed this flexible learning space incorporating interior and exterior spaces for this first-of-its kind building for the K-12 school on the campus in Western Henrico. On Newstands: The Greening of Richmond
The April 2013 issue of Richmond Magazine features an article following Lynden Miller’s visit to Richmond this past January. Miller, a noted public space designer and activist, spent several days here at the invitation of Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden, Capital Trees and 3north. The article describes 3north’s landscape design work at Monroe Park and projects in conjunction with Capital Trees and the City of Richmond at 14th Street, the Great Shiplock Park and the RMA Plaza.
On the Panel: Lecture Series on Revitalization Efforts
3north Principal and Historic Richmond Board Member, Scott Ukrop, will be participating in Historic Richmond’s panel discussion “In With the Old” on February 28. The panelists represent historic preservation champions in the City of Richmond who have creatively adapted buildings that are transforming the city. Among the 3north projects covered will be The Corrugated Box Building, The Richmond Ballet, The Visual Arts Center of Richmond and the upcoming renovation and restoration of Monroe Park.
Groundbreaking: Bon Secours Washington Redskins Training Center
3north Principal Jay Hugo joined dignitaries on the stage today for the groundbreaking of the Bon Secours Washington Redskins Training Center. Richmond Mayor Dwight Jones thanked Jay and 3north in the public ceremony for the firm’s guidance and leadership throughout the site selection, planning and design process. With Peter Bernard, CEO of Bon Secours Virginia Health System, Jay unveiled the rendering for the new facility slated to open this summer.
Other dignitaries on-hand with burgundy and gold shovels included Sister Anne Marie Mack of Bon Secours Richmond Health System, The Honorable Robert F. McDonnell, Governor of Virginia, First Lady Maureen McDonnell, Bruce Allen, Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Washington Redskins and Charles Samuels, President of Richmond City Council.
