3north Principal Jay Hugo’s design for a Richmond residence is featured in the January 2012 issue of Architectural Digest. In the annual AD 100 issue, the article discusses Jay’s collaboration with noted interior designer Bunny Williams. Read more here.
Recognized: Capital Trees 14th Street Initiative
Scenic Virginia honored the Capital Trees initiative at the 2011 Scenic Awards Gala Reception and Ceremony at the Virginia State Capitol in October. 3north worked with members of the Boxwood, James River, Three Chopt and Tuckahoe Garden Clubs to create a plan on 14th Street in downtown Richmond to improve the streetscape aesthetically and to serve as a bio-filter to enhance the stormwater quality of the run-off into the James River and Chesapeake Bay.
Off the Press: Healthy Community Choices
A study of the historic Jackson Ward neighborhood around the Richmond Convention Center by 3north Principal David Rau was cited in a recent publication by the Southern Environmental Law Center, “Healthy Community Choices.” The City of Richmond hired 3north to make recommendations for the area around the convention center to make it more inviting at the street level and less imposing on the neighborhood.
On Newstands: Bedford Springs in November Issue of Martha Stewart Living
3north’s extensive work at Bedford Springs Resort and Spa in Pennsylvania is featured in an 8-page article in the November 2011 issue of Martha Stewart Living. Although the monthly-magazine does not typically feature resorts or travel, after a memorable visit, editors convinced Martha Stewart to cover the resort and its incredible architecture, grounds and furnishings. 3north Principal David Rau led the restoration and renovation where 3north was responsible for the architecture, interior design, landscape design, furnishings and graphics packages. Among the numerous awards and honors, the highest received was the National Trust for Historic Preservation 2009 Honor Award.
