Not all organizations have dedicated budgets for interior design. But here’s the secret: you don’t need one. When the nonprofit Special Olympics Virginia wanted to redesign its offices, the organization knew it had to be good stewards of its donors’ contributions. Yet they still could achieve big impact at a low cost: bold graphics, powerful photos, and inspirational quotes fill the walls, while fresh coats of on-brand red paint breathe new life into what would normally be a traditional corporate office floor. Collaboration spaces are modeled after the sports played by Special Olympics athletes. The end result is a space that gives its people new, creative energy and areas to support their cause.
