2026 Unified Design Summer Internship Application is Now Open!
DESIGN WITH US
The 3North Unified Design Summer Internship is a 10-week, immersive studio experience for curious, motivated design students ready to contribute to real-world projects. Based in our Richmond, Virginia office, the program is designed for students of advanced standing who are eager to learn, collaborate, and work within a design-driven practice.
From day one, interns become part of our open-studio environment—working alongside designers across disciplines and gaining firsthand insight into how ideas move from concept to execution.
THE EXPERIENCE
Interns are fully embedded in the studio and actively contribute to ongoing work. Throughout the summer, you will:
- Work within a designated studio: Residential, Hospitality, or C-Studio (Commercial & Cultural projects)
- Collaborate across architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, and graphic design
- Contribute to active, real-world projects from concept through development
- Learn how a design firm operates—from creative vision to project delivery
- Engage with 3North’s Intangible Qualities (IQ) framework and design process
- Experience a studio culture that values curiosity, dialogue, and craft
PROGRAM STRUCTURE
For Summer 2026, three (3) Unified Design interns will be selected. Each intern will be assigned to one primary studio—Residential, Hospitality, or C-Studio—while still benefiting from exposure to 3North’s unified, interdisciplinary design culture. Applicants may indicate a preferred studio assignment in their cover letter (listed preference does not preclude consideration for other studios).
